BRIEFLY ABOUT SPONSORSHIP

One thing that sets Save Sunshine shelter kids Sponsorship apart from other Child Sponsorship Programs, is the way we look at the individual to see what strengths and gifting’s they have and encourage them in these. Save sunshine shelter kids takes children to co-ed schools and operates on a 3-term school year. The terms are all 3 months long and commence at the beginning of February through to the beginning of December.

We offer many varied sponsorships and we believe that sponsorship is more than just educating a child. It builds self-assurance, keeps their dreams alive, allows them tore-write their stories, personal aspirations, self-esteem and leadership qualities. There is also much documented evidence to show that correspondence with sponsors elevates the students' academic results even further. We welcome correspondence with your sponsor child.

In our shelters, we have day and boarding, higher institutions students in all grades. Schools in Uganda offer a holistic educational program, which requires all students to pay tuition, to have breakfast, 2 meals and water per day for the boarding scholars, school uniforms and school supplies, support of a child’s spiritual wellbeing (as all schools have the holy places constructed in the school community) and First Aid. As part of your commitment, sponsors pay for supplies to start the year off. Extra-curricular activities for the student include music dance and drama, debating, sports. Our students are to start and join schools immediately after they get sponsored.





Primary school is the first level children have to go through and it takes seven years, and for the little children from the age of 3 years – 6 years they first attend kindergarten. After graduating from primary level, the children join secondary school which takes six years of study comprising of "O" and "A" level and can attend a variety of secondary schools. Secondary and Tertiary Sponsorships differ depending on the chosen partnering school/institution in terms of payments, these are very expensive bodies in terms of payments as intuitions of secondary school and vocational trainings tend to ask very large amounts of money. This is attributed to that the fact that many secondary school students have to study and cover up many subjects in terms of studying.

We look at an individual according to their strengths and skills when determining a secondary school/institution. For example, we have children (former street boys actually) attending the top secondary schools because they are so academically smart, bright, have done so well in their Primary seven and wish to continue with secondary up to university level and become surgeons, teachers, laywers among other professions.

We have identified some children who are not academically gifted and have grown to join primary school which is the beginning level. We do our best to take them to institutions(Vocatical and skills training centres) that fit their capabilities and help them through the whole process of choosing a course. We encourage them to go for Vocational Training and Apprenticeships. It really depends on the child. We are unique in this way as we firmly believe that not all children fit in the same box and therefore, we ask sponsors to support the child accordingly.

Save Sunshine Shelter Kids rescues vulnerable children and places them in loving shelters. Our goal is not only to meet their physical needs, but to give them everything they need to become healthy and whole, and live a life of purpose.

When you sponsor a child, you help us provide food, clothing, medical care, education and a safe place they can call home. some children may need to multiple sponsors in order to give them the holistic care that every person needs two thrive especially those with serious medical conditions.

You may also choose to upgrade your regular Sponsorship to Sponsorship Add. This additional support helps bridge the gap between the time a child is rescued and when they are fully sponsored. There are always new children being welcomed into our family who are not yet sponsored and will benefit from this support.
